Administrative Services: Reports, Checks, & Requests

Reports:

If you are looking to obtain an accident or police report, remember that officers have three working days to complete their report. Officers typically complete reports at the end of their shift, but occasionally if additional information is needed or if the investigation is pending, accident reports may not be immediately available.

Accident (Crash) Report Fee: $5

Accident reports are not required by state law if there is less than $1,000 in damages, no one is injured, and drivers have exchanged pertinent information (Indiana Statue 5-14-1.5). Accident reports can be obtained 24 hours a day from the State of Indiana by using a credit or debit card at the BuyCrash website for $12 or in person during normal business hours at our agency station for $5 (cash only).

Incident (Police) Report Fee: $3

Police reports can be obtained 24 hours a day from the State of Indiana by using a credit or debit card at the BuyCrash website for $12 or in person during normal business hours at our agency station for $3 (cash only).

Please note: The Indiana Access to Public Records Act (APRA) Indiana Code 5-14-3 et. seq. is an act in relation to access of public records and documents.  Other State or Federal laws such as the Privacy and Security Act or Juvenile Court Act, may take precedence over the APRA, and may prevent your access to all or part of the information you have requested.  Report narratives (detailed accountings) will not be released as they are considered investigatory notes. Ind. Code 5-14-3-4 (b)(1).
