What’s New…

SUNFLOWERS AT BLUE RIVER MEMORIAL PARK

The Shelbyville Parks Department wanted to brighten our community’s day with a little blast of sunshine. We were glad to see everyone taking family, senior and wedding pictures and we were glad to send a few bouquets home. Thanks to our farmer, Mark Callahan, everyone enjoyed them.

WILDFLOWER HABITAT AT BLUE RIVER MEMORIAL PARK

Shelbyville Parks and Recreation worked with U.S. Fish and Wildlife, Department of Natural Resources, Quail Forever and our local co-op to put in 20 acres of quail and butterfly habitat at Blue River Memorial Park. This process takes about 3 years to fully develop. Our farmer, Mark Callahan, planted the seed last fall. It should be beautiful in 3 years.

FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

Indiana Grand Racing & Casino and the City of Shelbyville are happy to announce a “Festival of Lights” at Blue River Memorial Park! The display of Christmas lights will start with the city’s Holiday Parade on December 4th. There will be a mailbox for donations to help extend the display each year. If anyone would like to sponsor a display for 2021, please contact the Parks Department at 317-392-5128.
