Zoning Ordinance
The City of Shelbyville's Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Control Ordinance have been combined into a single Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) for the purpose of maintaining consistency, shortening the overall length of the document, and to improve user friendliness for the end users. Each Article of the UDO focuses on a specific topic, and all 11 articles of the Ordinance can be viewed and downloaded using these links:

Zoning Map
All land within the jurisdiction of the Shelbyville Plan Commission has been assigned a specific Zoning District and in some instances an accompanying Overlay Zoning District. These districts and overlay districts correspond to the Zoning Districts outlined in Articles 2 and Overlay Zoning Districts in Article 3 of the Unified Development Ordinance. This zoning map (PDF) was formally adopted by the Shelbyville Common Council on January 18th, 2012, and since then has been updated periodically when zoning map amendment requests have come before the Plan Commission and Common Council. A copy of the zoning map can be downloaded, and is current as of September 2nd, 2025.
